UN Women Albania: Women-Centered Tourism in Petrela
A UN Women Albania pilot highlights women-centered tourism, local enterprise, and inclusive travel experiences near Petrela.

UN Women Albania highlighted a pilot tourism experience designed specifically for mothers with children, created in collaboration with women-led enterprises.
The experience took place in the hills of Petrela, where mothers and children spent a day together walking near the ancient ruins of Persqop, practicing yoga under the trees, and joining cooking activities at a sustainable agritourism restaurant.
The initiative reflects a women-centered approach to tourism: travel that responds to women's needs, supports local women-led businesses, and creates safe spaces for connection, rest, and inclusion.
UN Women Albania also noted that additional journeys for solo women travellers were planned with the same focus on safety, connection, and support for women-led local initiatives.
